Our March Lunch & Learn will spotlight women in technology and data. Our panelists, Tracy Schroeder, Vice President and Chief Data Officer of Information Services & Technology (IS&T), Linette Decarie, Assistant Vice President of Analytical Services & Institutional Research (AS&IR), and Kelly Lockard, Assistant Vice President of Continuous Improvement & Data Analytics (CIDA) will share their expertise and career experiences in technology, data, and research.

Thanks for our event planners, Tasha Coughlin and Krystie Dickson, for bringing together this insightful group to share their experiences with us during this Lunch & Learn program.

At the conclusion of the hour-long event, the BUWG Awards Committee Chair Elizabeth Flagg announced the establishment of the BUWG Tracy Schroeder Scholarship in recognition of Tracy’s transformational service and leadership. The one-time, $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to a BU graduate student in May 2024.

Tracy Schroeder joined Boston University as Vice President of Information Services and Technology in July 2009. Tracy has been responsible for networking and telecommunications, systems infrastructure, communication and collaboration services, enterprise information systems, teaching and learning technologies, research computing, information security, and client computing support.

While at BU, Tracy has worked to improve technology governance and strategic planning while building IT service management and project management best practices across the organization. Under Tracy’s leadership, numerous legacy mainframe-based systems have been reimagined and successfully upgraded. She has overseen significant expansion of the campus wireless network, classroom technology upgrades, and the implementation of new information systems for finance, HR, procurement, development and alums relations, research administration, and the momentous Student Information System Renewal Program.

Tracy has accepted the position of Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Technology & Chief Information Officer at the University of California, Berkeley, and will be leaving her position here at the end of May 2024.

Headshot of Linette Decarie.Linette Decarie, Assistant Vice President, Analytical Services & Institutional Research (AS&IR)

Linette oversees Analytical Service & Institutional Research (AS&IR), which provides analytical resources and support to enable data-informed strategic decision making. Areas under the AS&IR umbrella include institutional research, data governance, undergraduate enrollment management, business intelligence reporting, and support and development of the Academic Data Warehouse (ADW). The AS&IR team also assists analysts and other community members in developing competencies in data literacy and the application of analytic tools and methods.

Linette has been part of BU since 1998 and has been in the role of Assistant Vice President for AS&IR since 2018. In addition to her work at BU, Linette is also an active member of the Association of American Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE), the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), and EDUCAUSE.

Kelly oversees the Continuous Improvement & Data Analytics (CIDA) department at BU, which provides consulting and analytics support to stakeholders in Financial Affairs and across the University. CIDA’s Continuous Improvement team executes internal consulting projects with a focus on implementing and improving business processes, creating efficiencies, and helping leadership execute strategic goals. CIDA’s Data Analytics team delivers valuable insight to stakeholders using financial and operational data through visualizations and dashboards, automation, machine learning, forecasting/modeling, and more.
