“The World of Sicilian Wine”
Speaker: Bill Nesto, Master of Wine, and Frances Di Savino, Esq.
Location: The Castle
Date: Thursday, December 4, 2014, 5-7 pm
Bill Nesto, MW, and Frances Di Savino, an attorney who has studied and worked in Italy, will discuss Sicily’s wine-growing areas, and their producers and wines, in the island’s three historical zones: the Val di Mazara, Val di Noto, and Val Demone. They will analyze the impact of recent trends in viticulture and enology and assess Sicily’s potential as a wine region.  There will also be a wine tasting. Attendees may purchase a copy of The World of Sicilian Wine.

Meet at 5 pm for a pre-game reception (beverages, chili, hot dogs and snacks included, cash bar) then we will all cheer together for the Terriers as they crush Navy. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under twelve. All members of the University Community are welcome. Attendees will receive a free t-shirt, courtesy of BU Athletics. All proceeds benefit the BUWG Scholarship Fund, a program to support women pursuing graduate study at Boston University.

BUWG Theatre Meet-Up to see “Wit”

Please join us for this informal BUWG event to see the Pulitzer Prize winning drama by Margaret Edson produced by the Boston Center for American Performance (BCAP) – the professional extension of the BU School of Theatre.  The production is directed by Sidney Friedman, and features BU faculty members/actors Judy Braha, Mark Cohen, and Paula Langton. This is a riveting story of Vivian Bearing, a scholar of the sonnets John Donne, who assesses (and reassesses) her life and assumptions as she faces terminal ovarian cancer. Tickets for this event are free.  Through special arrangement with BCAP, BUWG members will be invited to stay after the performance to discuss the play with Judy Braha and Paula Langton. Location: Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, Roberts Theatre at 527 Tremont Street. The play starts at 7:30 pm and runs 100 minutes without intermission.

A new theatrical work written by Phil Schroeder and directed by Clay Hopper

Location: Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, 949 Commonwealth Avenue
Members of the production design and production team will stop by to offer some insights into the creation of this show. Tickets are $30 each, and BUWG has reserved tickets this performance. All proceeds will go directly into the BUWG Scholarship Fund.
