The Russell Sage Foundation (RSF) is dedicated to “the improvement of social and living conditions in the United States.” The foundation funds social science research that extends the methods, data, and theories of the social sciences to better document and understand the nation’s most pressing social, political, and economic problems. RSF supports visiting scholars in residence and publishes books and a journal under its own imprint. It also funds researchers at other institutions and supports programs to develop new generations of social scientists.

As the principal American foundation devoted exclusively to the social sciences and one of the few foundations with a regular publishing program, Russell Sage continues to make a substantial contribution to social science literature. It publishes books on a variety of subjects, with an emphasis on work related to its funding programs: Behavioral Economics, the Future of Work, Race, Ethnicity, and Immigration, and Social, Political, and Economic Inequality. RSF also publishes the American Sociological Association’s distinguished Rose Series in Sociology.

Suzanne Nichols, the foundation's director of publications, will provide BU faculty with a virtual session focused on RSF’s book and journal publishing as well as funding and visiting scholar opportunities.

This event is hosted by BU Foundation Relations and presented in collaboration with the BU Center for Innovation in Social Science.
