Registration

Checking Student Registrations

The university’s registration system does not prohibit students who have not satisfied the necessary prerequisites from registering for WR classes. As of Fall 2024, the Writing Program will check that students in WR 151 and higher-level classes are correctly registered; faculty will receive a list of students who do not have the pre-requisite and will be responsible for corresponding with any students from that list who are registered for one of their sections. Refer to detailed explanations for pre-reqs here.

Adding and Dropping Students

Students add and drop classes online through MyBUStudent. Please do not add students yourself or sign add/drop forms. The Writing Program does not accept or use add/drop forms and does not allow overenrollments.

Enrollment Limits

Enrollments are capped at 15 for WR 111 and WR 112, 16 for WR 120 ELL, 18 for WR 120, and 17 for WR 151, WR 152, and WR 153.

The Writing Program does not allow over-enrolling its classes under normal circumstances. Enrolling students above these limits negatively affects the instruction that other students receive and undermines the Writing Program’s ability to maintain these caps in future semesters. You should not give verbal or written permission to students seeking enrollment in your class above the limit. Persistent students should add themselves to the waitlist and periodically check the schedule in the event that new sections are added. Movement between classes does occur, occasionally yielding open seats.

Add/Drop Deadlines

The last day to add or change WR classes is always one week earlier than the University add deadline.  All registration deadlines for the semester are posted on the academic calendar and included in the semester’s syllabus templates.
