There is 1 comment on The Merrimack Valley Gas Explosions Were a Suburban Disaster. Questrom Alum Joe Albanese Led a Military Recovery.

  1. Excellent article. Although not touched upon here the former president of Columbia Gas, Steve Bryant is also a Questrom alumnus. In my experience with Steve and the Columbia Gas team back in 2009-2013 they were very committed to the community. At the time I worked for Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence and Columbia Gas supported our annual Hike for Hope fundraiser led by Steve with the participation of many employees and their families.

My sense is this disaster was unprecedented and something neither Columbia Gas nor NiSource were fully prepared to handle on their own despite all their efforts. As a fellow Questrom alumnus I would welcome the chance to attend a talk with Joe Albanese, Steve Bryant and a Questrom faculty member who could address how companies respond to events of such magnitude. This could be the beginning of a valuable case study for future students. Thank you for sharing this important story and may more lessons be learned to avoid such calamities in the future.
