CFA's Olson receives 2002 Lowenfeld Award

Janet Olson, a CFA associate professor and chairman of the art education department of the school of visual arts, has been selected by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) to receive the 2002 Lowenfeld Award. The award was established in 1960 by friends and former students of Viktor Lowenfeld to honor an individual who has made significant contributions to art education. Olson will receive the award at the NAEA national convention in Miami Beach, Fla., in March, where she will give the Lowenfeld Lecture.

According to NAEA president Mac Arthur Goodwin, "This award recognizes a high level of professional accomplishment and service by a dedicated art educator. Dr. Olson exemplifies the high quality of individuals involved in the field of art education today: leaders, teachers, students, scholars, and advocates who give their very best to the profession."

The membership of NAEA includes elementary, secondary, middle-level, and high school art teachers from all 50 states and representatives from America's major art museums, state departments of education, arts councils, and major colleges and universities throughout the United States and 66 foreign countries.
