Student Employee of the Year wins state and regional contests

Nicole Cottetta (ENG'02), featured in last week's B.U. Bridge as Student Employee of the Year, has won both the state and regional Student Employee of the Year contests, sponsored by the Northeast Association of Student Employment Administrators (NEASEA). Winning the regional competition makes her one of four students at the national competition, sponsored by the National Student Employment Association.
The University presented her with a plaque and a $500 U.S. savings bond at a luncheon at the GSU. She will also receive a $50 U.S. savings bond for the state award and a $200 bond for the NEASEA regional award.

CFA to present Alumni Awards

On Saturday, April 20, the College of Fine Arts will present, as part of its Alumni Day activities, Alumni Awards to artist Caren Canier (CFA'76), whose work is on display at the GSU Sherman Gallery through April 21; to actor David Garrison (CFA'74), a Tony Award nominee and winner of numerous awards, including a Drama Desk Award, a Drama League Award, and a Helen Hayes Award; and to musician Ikuko Mizuno (CFA'69), a CFA teaching associate, who was the first woman to become a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's violin section and is now first violin.

Also on April 20, John Walker, a CFA professor of painting in the school of visual arts since 1993, will receive the Distinguished Faculty Award. Television director and producer Russell Morash (CFA'57), the creator, director, and executive producer of This Old House since 1979, who has been credited with introducing the how-to concept to television through such shows as The Victory Garden, The French Chef, and Last Chance Garage, will receive the award for Distinguished Service to the Profession.
