By the end of this class, students will be able to:

  • Identify the key sensory characteristics of the world’s most important varietal wines.
  • Analyze wine sensorially and translate those analyses into detailed and accurate annotations.
  • Understand how clonal and climatic factors affect wine character.
  • Understand the historical, cultural, genetic, viticultural, enological, and market context for the evolution of vine varieties and their wines.

Note: Former Level 3 and Level 4 students may also enroll in this new course.
