Darwin Bicentennial Art Competition open to all students
Ever been inspired by evolutionary biology? Well, if Charles Darwin is your hero, you can submit artwork to the Darwin Bicentennial Art Competition. The BU Darwin Bicentennial Committee is looking for interested studentsto design a work of art inspired by a theme in the work of Darwin. Collaborative entries are welcome, and the winning artwork will be displayed throughout the BU campus.
Open to all Boston University students, the artwork can be in any medium. The competition is organized through the College of Fine Arts course Site-Specific Art, which works to get student art displayed on campus. Competition participants are encouraged to work with students enrolled in the class to get advice and support. First prize is $3,000, second prize is $1,500, and third prize is $500.
A letter of intention must be submitted by Friday, October 10. A conceptual outline of the proposed work is due November 25, 2008, and a finished model of the work will be judged in March 2009.
