Boston, by Foot and by Frame
PhotoWalks mixes history and photography lessons

Everything that makes Boston famously walkable — its dense, historic neighborhoods, its urban parks, and its accessible waterfronts — also make the city particularly photogenic. That coincidence is not lost on Saba Alhadi, a former travel agent and professional photographer. In 2002, Alhadi founded PhotoWalks, a series of guided strolls through Boston’s most picturesque places, laced with historical tidbits and photography tips. A few walks go year-round, but the summer tours offer more options, with a full schedule running from May through September.
On Wednesdays, the two-hour walks include a 10 a.m. waterfront tour and 1 p.m. visit to the Back Bay. Other walks include Beacon Hill, the Public Garden, and the Freedom Trail (including the North End). To check out some of the photos or to order tickets (most walks are $25 for adults, and $12 for children ages 10 to 17), go to www.photowalks.com. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 1-800-979-3370.
