CAS Prof. Named President of ASHE
CAS Prof Randall Ellis recently was named president-elect of the American Society of Health Economists
Randall Ellis, a College of Arts and Sciences professor of economics, was a founding director of the American Society of Health Economists (ASHE) when the organization was established three years ago. In June, after the society’s second biennial conference, he will become president-elect.
“My job will be to help the growth of the new society and promote high-quality health economy research,” Ellis says. “I’d like to see us be the place people look to for more information about health economics.”
Ellis will lead a workshop on his research at the upcoming conference, to be held at Duke University. He will talk about risk adjustment and a payment formula he developed, which was used by Medicare for paying HMOs.
ASHE, an affiliate of the International Health Economics Association, promotes excellence in health economics research and is a forum both for emerging ideas and for results of research in the field. After two years, Ellis will start a two-year term as the organization’s president. “I’m delighted to be taking on this position,” he says.
