Charging into Debt
Free screening of documentary about the lending industry at BPL

Before charging that new Apple iPhone on your American Express card, stop by the Boston Public Library today, July 15, for a free screening of Maxed Out, a documentary on the credit card industry and excessive consumer debt.
The film highlights the financial irresponsibility of a growing number of Americans, such as their reliance on credit or their habit of incurring interest by making just the minimum monthly payment on credit card debt.
Boston Cares, a local volunteer organization that coordinates team-oriented volunteer opportunities and services aimed at improving the community, is sponsoring the event.
A panel discussion follows the screening, with Ingrid Hillinger, a professor at Boston College Law School, and Jim Campen, executive director of Americans for Fairness in Lending, a group that raises awareness of abusive credit and lending practices by corporations.
Maxed Out screens today, July 15, at 6 p.m. at the Boston Public Library. It is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
