Free Starlight Flicks at the Hatch Shell
Clues to movie titles on WBZ Radio Web site

Perhaps it’s time for you to become part of a Boston tradition. For more than 20 years, WBZ Radio has sponsored free summertime movies at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade.
Every Friday at sunset, from mid-June through August, a different film is shown, and most of them are popular and family-friendly. So grab a few lawn chairs or a blanket, pack up some grub, and head to the river for open-air entertainment. The strange twists of copyright law prevent WBZ from announcing the films it will be showing, but the station posts hints on its Web site. The clue for tonight’s movie: “’Bee’ there to watch a sociable insect befriend a human and learn secrets to the honey-making industry.” Stumped? Ask your kids, or call the WBZ Free Friday Flicks Hotline at 617-787-7200 for the answer.
Free parking is available in the right-hand lane of Storrow Drive West starting at 7:15 p.m. Veterans know to get to the Esplanade early to stake out prime turf and see what freebies and food samples the WBZ folks are handing out at their tent. The 23rd annual Free Friday Flicks is sponsored by WBZ NewsRadio 1030 and the Department of Conservation and Recreation. In case of nasty weather, call the hotline for cancellation information.
