From Sumi Ink Club to the Awesome Brothers
808 Gallery showcases Providence, R.I., art scene

The 808 Gallery’s current exhibition, Shadow out of Time, showcases the Providence, R.I., art scene. Curated by Haley O’Connor and Natalie Purkey, codirectors of the alternative artist-run Stairwell Gallery, it includes painting, sculpture, video,performance, and mixed media works by both emerging and establishedartists. A showcase of performance, film, video, and music will fill the gallery on Sunday, December 14, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The exhibition features works by artists the Awesome Brothers, Andrew MoonBane, Eamon Brown, HumanBeast, Alexandra Gorczynski, Carlos Gonzalez,Barkev Gullesserian, Imaginary Company, Raphael Lyon, Haley O’Connor,Shaun O’Dell, Ara Peterson and Dave Fischer, Natalie Purkey and MuffyBrandt, Erin Rosenthal, Sumi Ink Club, Mike Stoltz, and Mike Taylor, plus aprint gift shop with an array of Providence printmakers.
Shadow out of Time is on display from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, until the January 25, 2009, closing night party, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the 808 Gallery, 808 Commonwealth Ave. The gallery is closed December 24 through January 4.
