Kohanchuk Named Hockey East Mission Rookie of the Week
Freshman center honored for third time this season
For the third time this season, women’s ice hockey forward Jenelle Kohanchuk(CGS’10) has been honored as the Women’s Hockey East Mission Rookie of the Week,announced by the conference on December 8. Kohanchuk was involvedin all three goals as the sixth-ranked Terriers skated to a shootoutwin after a 3-3 tie with seventh-ranked New Hampshire on Sunday, December 7, atWalter Brown Arena.
Kohanchuk opened the scoring for the Terriers at 2:36 in the first period and then assisted on third-period goals by Tara Watchorn (CAS’12) and Melissa Anderson(MET’10) to even the score and send the game to overtime. It was the thirdthree-point game for the Winnipeg, Man., native in 16 games thisseason.
The rookie center is tied for the team lead in scoring, with 18points off 7 goals and 11 assists, and is also tied for the leaguelead in scoring among freshmen.
