Olympic Hopefuls Compete at Agganis
2008 VISA Gymnastics Championships continue Saturday
Those of us who won’t make it to Beijing this summer can still see Olympic-level gymnastics on Saturday, June 7, at Agganis Arena. The 2008 VISA Championships, which began yesterday, showcase 53 of the country’s best women gymnasts, who are competing for spots on the U.S. Women’s National Team and for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which will take place June 19 to 22 in Philadelphia.
Juniors began their competition on Thursday at 1 p.m., and seniors at 7 p.m. On Saturday, juniors start at 10:30 a.m. and seniors at 3:30 p.m. There will also be activities for spectators, with fitness, exercise, and nutrition events and autograph signings by the 1988 Olympic U.S. women’s team prior to Saturday’s competition.
The VISA Championships are at Agganis Arena, 925 Commonwealth Ave., on June 5 and 7. Single-session tickets range from $25 to $120 and may be purchased by phone at 617-931-2000, online, at all Ticketmaster outlets, or at the Agganis Arena Ticket Office. Visit the Web site for more information.
