Adil Najam speaks tonight about access to education

Adil Najam, a College of Arts and Sciences professor of international relations and geography and environment and the lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was awarded the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize along with Al Gore, will speak tonight about Overcoming the Barriers of Access to Education. The presentation evaluates the social, economic, and cultural factorsthat create barriers of access to education for marginalized groups inSouth Asia. The objective is to take a look at the current educationsystem, evaluate major problems, and discuss potential solutions toincreasing access to education.
Najam, director of BU’s Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, speaks at 7 p.m. at the Life Science Building, 36 Cummington St., Room B-01. The talk, sponsored by Barakat at BU, is free and open to the public. Najam has previously taught at MIT and at the Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
