Palestinian Voices, on Film
Lucy Parsons Center screens lefty films every Wednesday

From biopics of reformed gangbangers to documentary exposés of the fast food industry, the South End’s Lucy Parsons Center screens a new “radical film” every Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Tonight’s presentation is 40 digital short videos (between 3 and 10 minutes in length) produced by young people in Palestinian refugee camps with the help of the nonprofit Voices Beyond Walls (VBW). Since 2006, VBW has conducted media workshops in the West Bank and Jordan with refugee children ages 10 to 16, teaching them the language of video and digital media technology to help them tell viewers about Palestinian history and culture and life as a refugee, and their fears, dreams, and aspirations.
The Lucy Parsons Center, located at 549 Columbus Ave., is a collective of left-wing outreach efforts run entirely by volunteers, offering space for community organizers and events such as English conversation groups for nonnative speakers. Admission to the radical film night is free.
