Scarlet Squad Recruiting Members
Hersh Parekh (CAS’09, SMG’09) likes helping freshmen adjust to college life

Any BU student who has dragged a laundry cart filled with belongings into a residence hall during move-in weekend has run into a red-shirted volunteer eager to help, whether carrying bags or directing parents to a nearby coffee shop. These students, alumni, and faculty and staff members are the Scarlet Squad, and they are recruiting volunteers for the fall semester’s move-in. BU Today is highlighting a few of last year’s members.
Hersh Parekh (CAS’09, SMG’09) joined Scarlet Squad after he learned who those volunteers were. He was a captain during his sophomore and junior years.
Parekh enjoyed meeting fellow BU students he may never have met and helping new students adjust. “It’s a good feeling when people actually listen to you and appreciate the help you’re giving them,” he says. “It’s a great opportunity to get involved with the University. I had a great time doing it.”
