The Segways Are Coming!
Tour the town on your personal transporter

Sure, Boston is famous for being a walkable city. But why pound the pavement when you can glide along it? Segway Personal Transporters, two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicles invented by Dean Kamen (Hon.’06), are available for rent or organized tours from Boston Gliders in the city’s North End.
These days, it seems, even alternative means of transport aren’t cheap. Segway rentals start at $30 for half an hour and go to $175 for a full six-hour day, although there are discounts for group rentals. And if you Segway with a friend or two, you can sign up for an $80 per person guided tour of various Boston hotspots, from the Freedom Trail to Newbury Street.
The rental office, open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., is at 148 Salem St. To get there, take the Green Line to either Haymarket or North Station.
