What to Do with Mom and Dad
Parents Weekend boasts sports, comedy, and art for families

It’s time to straighten up your dorm room and stock up the fridge for that visit from Mom and Dad. Today is the start of Parents Weekend, and the University has planned a host of activities to entertain both students and their families.
For starters, student performances and visual art exhibitions as well as religious services will take place all weekend.
In addition, several BU departments, including Judicial Affairs, BU International Programs, and Marsh Chapel, will hold informative Sidewalk Talks at various outdoor locations across campus. And individual schools and colleges will host special programs and receptions for students and their families.
Families can show their Terrier Pride at athletic events, including the men’s and women’s crew teams competing in the Head of the Charles. The world’s biggest regatta takes place tomorrow, October 18, and Sunday, October 19.
If students are looking for a way to entertain their parents during the evening, they can watch the Second City comedy troupe or stop by the Saturday Night Extravaganza, a showcase of BU singers, dancers, comedians, and jugglers.
Event packets with important information, including tickets and final schedules, are available all weekend at the Parents Weekend information booth in the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave. If families haven’t yet signed up for an event that interests them, they should visit the information booth to do so. Space is limited, and all tickets are nonrefundable.
And remember, parking is limited this weekend, so taking the T is a smart idea.
Parents Weekend takes place today, October 17, through Sunday, October 19. Click here for a schedule of events.
