Dean Elmore, BU staffer report on the inauguration
Yesterday, the world slowed down at approximately 12:08 p.m., asPresident Barack Obama took the presidential oath of office. Theinauguration ceremony was broadcast on television and streamed online.People came to Washington from all across the country, impelled by aneed to watch history being made, and schools and workplaces tookbreaks to watch the scene from the stone steps of the Capitol and thegrassy expanse of the Mall.
But what really happened in D.C. yesterday? What did it feel like to bea part of this moment in history? Two members of the BU community — Kenneth Elmore(SED’87), the dean of students, and Raul Fernandez (COM’00), theassistant director of the Howard Thurman Center — were there to witnessObama’s inauguration. They took a moment to call BU Today and reportback.
