Italian Flavor
Musical main dishes tonight at the Hatch Shell

In Italy, families love to flock to the countryside for a day of fine dining, music, dance, and merriment.
The Boston Landmarks Orchestra brings this tradition to the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade tonight, kicking off its summer concert series, the Landmarks Festival at the Shell, with Intensely Italian, a tribute to Italy’s rich musical heritage. The orchestra will supply the music and you bring the food.
The evening’s repertoire includes Giuseppe Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino, Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 in A major, Op. 90; Giuseppe Domenico Scarlatti’s and Vincenzo Tommasini’s The Good-Humored Ladies; and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien, Op. 92.
Pack some cheese, cold cuts, and cannolis from the North End, grab a blanket, and get ready for a night of music under the stars.
The Boston Landmarks Orchestra, founded in 2001 by artistic director Charles Ansbacher, will perform outdoor concerts at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade every Wednesday at 7 p.m. through September 9. Admission is free. Call 617-520-2200 for more information.
