BU hosts international conference on food styling and photography
We don’t usually think about what makes us eat what we eat, but creating appetizing images of food is a professional art, full of the secrets of the trade.
Some of these secrets will be revealed when Boston University’s Master of Liberal Arts in Gastronomy program, run by Metropolitan College, hosts its second International Conference on Food Styling and Photography this weekend.
Attracting hundreds of attendees from as far away as New Zealand, the conference emphasizes creativity for food stylists and photographers, with seminars such as Camera, Lens, and Toilet Paper: Practical Tips and Stories of a Traveling Photographer and Viral Video: Expanding Your Reach and Stretching Your Clients.
In addition to presentations given by world-renowned professionals, several workshops will be available (for an additional fee) that offer practical tips and demonstrations. Participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible; workshop space is limited.
The conference begins Friday, June 12, at 11 a.m., and continues through Monday, June 15. Events are held in the Fuller Building, 808 Commonwealth Ave., and the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave. The last day to register is Thursday, June 11. General admission is $575, $350 for students, and includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday. BU students and faculty get an additional discount.
