Pru Pickings
A farmers market and a free flick are a fine Thursday combo

What better way to celebrate spring’s height and summer’s impending arrival than by visiting one of the many farmers markets around the city?
Every Thursday through the end of October, the Prudential Center hosts farmers from across the region on the Boylston Plaza. Local vendors offer a large variety of fresh food, from artisanal breads to stone-ground chocolates to every kind of seasonal produce. Summer’s true harbinger, strawberries, aren’t out yet, but leafy greens and homemade pies are a fine alternative. Pick up some chevre, a loaf of bread, maybe some lemon marmalade and sparkling apple cider, and you have a perfect spring lunch for two.
Produce in hand, head over to the South Garden at the Prudential Center, where beginning tonight the Pru hosts its Not Your Average Night Out Movie Series during the month of June. Premovie entertainment begins at 6 p.m., and the movie rolls at sundown. Tonight’s offering is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off; even though school’s out for the summer, we can empathize with Ferris’ urge to get out and enjoy a beautiful day.
