The Sox Honor a MED Professor
Marie-France Demierre is a bona fide Red Sox Medical All-Star

Marie-France Demierre, a School of Medicine professor of dermatology, will be honored as a Medical All-Star by the Boston Red Sox prior to tonight’s 7:10 p.m. game against the New York Yankees. The Red Sox honor a doctor at each Friday night home game throughout the season.
Demierre has diagnosed and treated skin cancer for almost 15 years. She promotes sun safety awareness and education to children, teens, and parents. She has led numerous clinical trials aimed at early detection and elimination of malignant melanomas, work that also earned her this year’s Women’s Dermatologic Society Presidential Award.
Over a million cases of nonmelanoma skin cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States. The majority of these cases are sun-related.
