The jury is still out on life in Warren Towers. Some freshmen who chose their second-year housing during the first round of room selection couldn’t wait to get out — one Claflin resident describes it as “the 15 circles of hell” — but others were happy to sign on for a second year of life at 700 Comm Ave.
“Warren has everything you need: the dining hall, the exercise room,” says Nora Rossini (SHA’12), who picked a corner double. “Some of my friends are over the dorm experience, but I like it there.”
Room selection began last week, a spring ritual that is harrowing for some, crucial for all, and continues for another week. Freshmen participating in what’s known as internal room selection (remaining in the same residence hall next year) were among the first up. Although many yearned to spend sophomore year in StuVi II — “I’m wowed by new things,” says Rossini — most ultimately took a pragmatic approach and picked residence halls less likely to fill up with juniors and seniors.
But even with relatively low stakes, relief after room selection is palpable.
“Now that there’s no pressure in housing, I can focus on my studies,” says Oliver Taylor (CAS’12). “I’m going to become a straight-A student.”
