Part of the late Jim Henson’s magic was the appeal of his puppetry to both children and the child in all of us. Sesame Street entrances kids, while their elders appreciate the leavening of adult jokes and (let’s be honest) a safe babysitter while they get some household chores done.
See for yourself what made Henson, who died 20 years ago, the world’s most famous puppeteer in Jim Henson’s Fantastic World, an exhibition at Lexington’s National Heritage Museum. On display: 100 original Henson drawings, cartoons, and storyboards, puppets and props from TV and movies, photos of Henson at work, and original video of his early career and experimental films.
Jim Henson’s Fantastic World runs Tuesdays through Sundays until June 27 at the museum, 33 Marrett Rd., Lexington. Admission and parking are free. Directions and hours are available here.
