Fine Art Refreshes Dog Days of Summer
Boston Young Contemporaries at Gallery 808

Summertime doesn’t mean high-culture sensibilities have to go on vacation. If baseball, beaches, and Ben & Jerry’s leave a yearning for something higher-minded, try the Boston Young Contemporaries Exhibition at BU’s 808 Gallery.
Now in its fifth year, the exhibition spotlights contemporary paintings, photographs, video, sculpture, and prints by students in Master of Fine Arts and post-Baccalaureate programs at BU and throughout New England. John Walker, a College of Fine Arts professor of painting, helped CFA graduate students launch the exhibition in 2006, based on a similar project Walker cofounded in England.
A three-judge panel selected works by 80-plus artists from 11 schools for this year’s show.
The Boston Young Contemporaries Exhibition shows Thursdays through Sundays until August 6 at the 808 Gallery, 808 Commonwealth Ave. The gallery is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
