JFK’s Home Open to Tours, and Free
Weekend marks late president’s birthday
John. F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, in his family’s homeat 83 Beals St. in Brookline. To celebrate what would have been the 35thpresident’s 93rd birthday, the National Park Service will celebrate with music,cake, and free admission to the home on Memorial Day weekend.
The Kennedy family lived in the home from 1914 to 1920. AfterKennedy’s assassination, his mother restored the house to appear as it did in1917. Original artifacts include the family’s bassinet and photographs.
Guided tours of the home begin at 12:30 p.m. today, May 28, andwill be offered every half-hour until 3 p.m., with self-guided tours untilclosing. From noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, pianist Benjamin Warsawwill play music of the era.
The John F. KennedyNational Historic site, 83 Beals St., Brookline, is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30p.m. Take the MBTA Green Line C trolley to Coolidge Corner or the B trolley to Babcock Street. More information is available here.
