Gardner Museum is around the corner: free Thursday
Artwork from some of the world’s greatest masters is right around the corner at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which offers free admission, by prereserved ticket, on three Thursday nights this summer.
The museum opens its doors for Neighborhood Nights 2010 on July 8 and 22 and August 5, from 5 to 8 p.m., when visitors are free to wander the museum’s garden courtyard and three floors of exhibitions, featuring works by masters Michelangelo, Edgar Degas, Rembrandt, and John Singer Sargent.
Neighborhood Nights will also feature live musical performances, special art activities for children and families, and the opportunity to sketch plants and flowers in the museum’s lush courtyard.
This Thursday’s event, themed Splendor Indeed! — An Enjoyable Summer’s Evening Soiree, will focus on the courtyard’s blend of art with flowers, and include family-oriented gardening activities.
Admission to Neighborhood Nights 2010 is free; a limited number of tickets is available and can be picked up in advance at the museum’s admission desk, 280 The Fenway, on the Tuesday through Thursday of the week of the event, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Paid parking is available, or take the Huntington Avenue Number 39 bus or the Green Line E trolley to the Museum stop.
