Miss Marple on the Case
Boston Public Library film series features Christie’s elderly sleuth
Miss Marple, Agatha Christie’s matronly mystery maven, stars in a four-week run of movies starting today at the South Boston branch of the Boston Public Library. First up: Sleeping Murder, a 1987 TV adaptation of Christie’s novel, directed by John Davies.
You get to watch a classic mystery and appreciate the marvelous Joan Hickson, the late British actress best known for her portrayal of the elderly sleuth.
The films of the Miss Marple Mystery Matinee series are shown at 1 p.m. on Tuesdays through July 27 at the branch library, 646 East Broadway, South Boston. Admission is free. The four films are Sleeping Murder, A Caribbean Mystery (July 13), 4:50 from Paddington (July 20), and The Murder at the Vicarage (July 27).
