In the 10 years since Noah Bean left BU, the young actor has appeared on several network television shows, helped found an artists group, and worked on a series with Glenn Close. Bean (CFA’00) is currently playing randy, rambunctious but lovesick and inexperienced cowboy Bo Decker in the Huntington Theatre Company’s production of William Inge’s Bus Stop.
The 32-year-old Bean’s career took off in 2007 when he won the role of Dr. David Connor in the first season of the FX series Damages, starring Close, whom Bean calls an inspiration and mentor. His Damages character is found stabbed to death in the bathtub, then returns for the rest of the season in flashbacks. Before being cast on Damages, he appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ed, Joan of Arcadia, and Numb3rs and in a variety of TV commercials. He is also a founder of the NYC-based Stage 13, an ensemble of artists that grew out of BU’s College of Fine Arts. Stage 13’s three artistic directors, as well as many founding and current members, were CFA classmates.
Ask Bean about his BU years, how he landed his stage and screen roles, his work with Stage 13, and what it’s like to go up against a major star like Glenn Close.
