Going Out with a Bang: Senior Week

You’ve spent the last four years writing papers, cramming for exams, and working summer jobs to pay for tuition. With finals nearly over, it’s time to celebrate your graduation. Champagne toasts, harbor cruises, music, and dancing beckon—just some of the offerings on tap as part of this year’s Senior Week.

Some events are already sold out, but tickets are still available for many others. For more information, seniors can visit the Activities Information Desk on the second floor of the George Sherman Union, 775 Comm Ave. Tickets will be on sale daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. For an updated look at the Senior Week schedule, students should visit the Student Activities Office website.

Saturday, May 14
Martha’s Vineyard
Anxious to get out of the city? Board a ferry that will take you to Martha’s Vineyard for the day. Visit beaches, restaurants, and shops before the island’s tourist season begins in earnest. BU will provide a list of recommendations for shopping, dining, and sightseeing. The trip begins at the GSU at 8 a.m.; the ferry leaves at 10:45 a.m. and heads back at 5 p.m.
$35 (includes bus and ferry transportation); limit: 2 tickets per person.

Sunday, May 15
Foxwoods Resort Casino
Luck be a lady tonight! Here’s a chance to dress up for an evening of gambling, shopping, entertainment, and dining at Foxwoods, in Connecticut. The trip includes BU-only access to the Shrine nightclub and other perks. The event is open to students under 21, but you must be 21 or older to enter casinos or clubs. The bus leaves from the GSU at 4:30 p.m. and returns at 2:30 a.m.
$20 (includes transportation, food voucher, and gambling voucher); limit: 2 tickets per person.

Monday, May 16
Harbor Cruise
Enjoy dancing and drinks on a private harbor cruise with the rest of your graduating class. Boarding is at 6:45 p.m. from the World Trade Center pier, rain or shine. You get there on your own, but transportation back to campus will be provided. A cash bar for those 21 or older will be available, but you must have a valid license or passport.
$35; limit: 1 ticket per person.

Tuesday, May 17
House of Blues Party with the Cataracs
Make the floor shake at BU’s House of Blues party, featuring the pop duo the Cataracs. A cash bar will be available for those 21 or older, with a valid I.D. All BU students must be 18 or older; guests must be 21 and older. Doors will open at 10 p.m. The House of Blues is at 15 Landsdowne St.
$20; limit 2 tickets per person.

Wednesday, May 18
BU Takes Over Six Flags
The Class of 2011 can have Six Flags New England amusement park, in Agawam, Mass., all to itself for a day of thrills. But BU must sell 1,000 tickets for the event to take place. Buses leave at 9 a.m. and will return at 7 p.m.
$50 (includes round-trip transportation, admission to the park and all rides, and an all-you-can-eat barbecue); no ticket limit.

Thursday, May 19
Senior Ball
Make sure you clean up nicely and join your fellow seniors at 808 Comm Ave for the Red, White, and Black Tie Ball. There will be a cash bar for those 21 or older. Non-BU guests are welcome. Doors will open at 9 p.m.; the event runs until 1 a.m.
$30; limit: 2 tickets per person.

Friday, May 20
Champagne Reception
Toast your graduation at the Class of 2011 Champagne Reception. Join your deans, administrators, family, and friends as you celebrate one last time. The reception begins at 4 p.m. on the Warren Alpert Mall and ends at 6 p.m. The rain location for the event is the Track and Tennis Center.
$15; no ticket limit.
