Harborfest Children’s Day Sing-along
Free City Hall Plaza concert for kids, grownups
Children, their parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and anyone who’s a child at heart can sing along to the spirited kid-folk classics of Wayne Potash & the Music Fun Band at three free concerts at Boston’s City Hall Plaza today at Harborfest Children’s Day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
One of more than 200 events scheduled as part of Boston’s 30th Annual Harborfest celebration, the concerts will take place under the Children’s Day Tent at 10 a.m. and 12:45 and 2:15 p.m. Featuring a banjo, guitar, and ukulele, the lively ensemble will sing old favorites (think Pete Seeger) and new songs with a focus on “bugs, beasts, fishes, and friendship.” Find out about other Harborfest Children’s Day activities here.
A winner of the Parents’ Choice Award, singer-songwriter Potash has released six CDs, and his audience participation shows are aimed at everyone from adults “all the way down to the youngest toddlers,” according to his website. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Potash leads music programs for children at Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Regis College, and his Music Fun Show recently premiered on Easton Cable.
Running from June 29 through July 4, Harborfest is a six-day celebration of Boston’s colonial and maritime heritage.
Harborfest Children’s Day, a free day of fun and games for children of all ages, is Thursday, June 30, at Boston’s City Hall Plaza. To get to City Hall Plaza on the T, take a Green Line trolley inbound to Government Center.
