Snow Brings Two-Hour Delay to CRC for Classes, Workday
Med Campus is open as usual
With yet another nor’easter unleashing its fury on the city, Boston University’s Charles River Campus will have a two hour delayed opening on Thursday, January 27, 2011. All normal academic and administrative activities (e.g. classes, seminars and meetings) scheduled to take place before 11:00 AM will be cancelled. Academic and administrative operations that are normally scheduled to occur after 11:00 AM will meet as scheduled. Dining services will operate as usual.
Employees in essential services must report as scheduled. Essential services include, but are not limited to, University Police, Facilities Management and Planning, University Dining Services, Mail Services, Student Health Services and the University Switchboard. The Medical Campus will remain open as usual. Peter Fiedler, vice president of administrative services, said the decision to delay opening was based on concern of State Police that roadways entering the city would not be ready for rush hour traffic.
The National Weather Service is expecting the heaviest snowfall between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., with the storm tapering off in mid-morning. Winds will blow 10 to 20 miles per hour, and temperatures will remain in the 20s and 30s.
The storm could add up to a foot of snow to the 50 inches that Boston has seen this season, nearly eight inches more than the average for an entire winter. The record, set in the winter of 1995-1996, is 107 inches.
