Snow-packed Nor’easter Closes University
Sixteen inches of snow may fall
With a classic nor’easter expected to dump more than a foot of snow on the Boston area, University officials have closed both the Charles River Campus and the Medical Campus on Wednesday, January 12. Peter Fiedler, vice president for administrative services, says the decision to close the Charles River Campus schools was made when the storm was upgraded from a winter storm to a blizzard.
Employees in essential services must report as scheduled. Essential services include, but are not limited to, University Police, Facilities Management and Planning, Mail Services, and the University Switchboard. Medical students assigned to inpatient services are expected to be present, if possible. Students assigned to outpatient services should check with their course directors at the clinical site.

The National Weather Service is predicting 12 to 16 inches of snow across Massachusetts, starting shortly after midnight Wednesday and tapering off by evening. Northwest winds will blow at 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 40 mph inland. Blizzard conditions are expected along the coast.
