All-star game shows off Cape Cod’s talent at Fenway

It’s any baseball fan’s dream: front-row seats at Fenway for just a fraction of the cost of a Red Sox game. That fantasy becomes reality tomorrow night when the park plays host to the annual Cape Cod All-Star Game. The ten-team Cape Cod Baseball League features some of the nation’s best college sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This is the third consecutive year that the best of the league’s 400-plus players, divided between the East Cape and West Cape, will face off at Fenway.
Tickets are only $10 in advance and $12 the day of the game. The All-Star event includes a Home Run Derby, an autograph session, and a silent auction for Cape League memorabilia. Seating is on a first- come, first-served basis, so get there early (last year’s event drew 10,740 people and organizers expect at least as many this year). The game is perfect family fare and all concessions are offered at discounted prices.
The league has become very popular with tourists and Cape residents alike. Games draw thousands of fans each season. Teams are comprised of NCAA baseball players from all over the country and have produced the likes of Kevin Youkilis, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Jason Varitek. The league has been around for 127 years and has produced 230 major league players.
The event starts at 7:05 p.m., beginning with the pregame Home Run Derby.
To order tickets, visit the Red Sox website or call 877-REDSOX-9. If you are buying tickets the day of the game, you can purchase them at the ticket office at Fenway. If you can’t make it to the park, Comcast SportsNet will be broadcasting the game.
