YouSpeak: T’s New Late-Night Service
What will it mean for you?
The T’s much anticipated late-night weekend service launched this past weekend, with the subway system and more than a dozen bus routes extending service until 3 a.m. The expanded service dovetails with Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s efforts to make the city more accessible to night owls.
But how long the late-night service lasts will depend on how many people use it—and whether businesses (notably, bars, restaurants, and other venues) see an uptick in business. An earlier effort to expand weekend bus service back in 2001 failed because too few people took advantage of it. For now, the T has committed to a one-year pilot program.
We wanted to hear whether students plan to take advantage of the new service. Are you more likely to stay out later? Stop taking cabs? Go places you wouldn’t have before because you were worried about how you would get home and how much it would cost?
