Bacon and Beer for a Good Cause
Proceeds from Fenway event Sunday to support local charities

Looking for a guilt-free way to enjoy some great bacon dishes, washed down with a cold beer? Head over to the concourse at Fenway Park this Sunday, June 12, for the seventh annual Boston Bacon and Beer Festival, running from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The festival is a feel-good celebration of bacon and beer and has proven (unsurprisingly) a runaway success. Proceeds benefit three local charities, so your taste buds and charitable spirit will both be satisfied.
Aaron Cohen of EatBoston, the event and dining production company sponsoring the event, founded the Bacon and Beer Festival in 2010, and an estimated 1,700 people attended last year.
This year’s festival will feature imaginative bacon dishes from more than 40 Boston area restaurants, including Bambara, Brasserie Jo, Puritan & Co., and Roxy’s Grilled Cheese. Past years have seen chefs whip up both savory and sweet bacon dishes, like porter-glazed bacon over cheesy porridge, with garlic-creamed spinach and crispy shallots, courtesy of Brookline’s Fireplace, and bacon cotton candy, made from pulverized bacon and caramelized sugar, from Harvest in Cambridge.
In addition to those beers regularly poured at Fenway, 16 additional beers will be available, among them New England favorites like Harpoon, Sam Adams, Narragansett, and Smuttynose.
General admission tickets get you entry to the event, unlimited samples of the bacon dishes, and eight three-ounce samples of beer. Guests can purchase additional beers after they down the samples. VIP tickets are also available and come with expedited entry, a Red Sox bobblehead, a festival T-shirt, a Defend Bacon tote, and one pound of Star Market’s Signature Farm Bacon, as well as the bacon and beer samples. Tickets and merchandise are available online only and sell out quickly.
Festival proceeds benefit the Red Sox Foundation, the official team charity of the Red Sox, Community Servings, a nonprofit that delivers food to individuals with AIDS, and Lovin’ Spoonfuls, a local organization that picks up and delivers fresh, healthy food, which would otherwise be discarded, to community groups in the Boston area. Note: the event is 21+.
The Boston Bacon and Beer Festival is Sunday, June 12, in the concourse at Fenway Park, 4 Yawkey Way, Boston, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets ($52.50 for general admission, $105 for VIP admission) can be purchased online.
