A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
The most famous movie franchise in Hollywood history returns to the big screen today with Solo: A Star Wars Story, produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by Disney Studios. The second anthology film in the Star Wars franchise, Solo is a prequel to Rogue One and A New Hope, and focuses (you guessed it) on a young Han Solo and his first meeting with future copilot Chewbacca and encounters with gambler Lando Calrissian. With its Memorial Day weekend release, Solo should be the first hit of the summer 2018 season.
The film stars up-and-coming actor Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Woody Harrelson (Tobias Beckett), Emilia Clarke (Qi’ra), and Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian). According to projections, Solo could generate as much as $170 million in its opening weekend, making it one of the biggest Memorial Day weekend launches in Hollywood history.
The movie has not been without controversy. The original directors were fired over alleged creative differences and replaced by Oscar-winning director Ron Howard (Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind).
In a nod to the film’s release—and the start of the summer season—we’re sponsoring a Star Wars trivia contest. Our lucky winner will receive two free tickets to a screening tonight at Regal Fenway Stadium 13 & RPX.
