Why should I go?
Overwatch, the uber-popular first-person shooter game, has players choosing one of 31 characters, called “heroes,” each with unique powers, abilities, and roles. These heroes range from a hamster called “Wrecking Ball,” a 62-year-old astrophysicist, and even Orisa, a guardian robot. Heroes fall into one of three categories: support, those who shield and heal their allies; tanks, those who harm the other team’s fortified positions; and damage, those who engage and destroy enemies with various tools. The sheer number of characters makes the game challenging for experienced players, but also accessible for newcomers, who can choose heroes that are easier to play.
Tonight’s winning team will take home the $600 grand prize, and the tournament, held in the museum’s Charles Hayden Planetarium, will be played as a best of three, with the winners of each round moving on to the next. Even if you don’t make it to the top tier, it’s a great chance to be fully immersed in Overwatch.
