Six Top BU Athletics Events to Catch over Intersession
If you’re sticking around, here are some games and meets to watch out for over winter break
The majority of BU students will head home for winter break, but the Terrier athletic teams remain in full swing. If you’re sticking around on campus or will be near Boston, BU Athletics has plenty of games and meets for some winter entertainment.
Here are BU Today’s top six events to check out over intersession:

Men’s Basketball vs. Lafayette College
January 2, 7 pm
Patriot League play gets underway early in the new year for men’s basketball, when the Terriers host Lafayette at Case Gym. BU beat the Leopards on the road last year, but fell at home. Picked fifth in the league’s preseason poll, the Terriers get a chance to start off early with a win at home.

Women’s Ice Hockey vs. Maine
January 4, 3 pm
January 5, 3 pm
The BU women’s ice hockey team has an opportunity to steal a couple of wins in Hockey East play in the first week of 2020. Can Sammy Davis (CGS’17, Sargent’19, Wheelock’20), Abby Cook (Sargent’20), and Jesse Compher (SHA’21) again pace the Terriers, as they look to jump up in the standings? Both contests at Walter Brown Arena are Youth Days, where kids in eighth grade and below get in for free. Sign up here.

Women’s Basketball vs. American University
January 5, 2 pm
The BU women’s first home Patriot League basketball game of the season comes against the strong Eagles, who qualified for the Women’s National Invitation Tournament last year. The Terriers were swept by American last season, including a heartbreaking 50-48 loss on the road, where BU led by seven with just over two minutes left to play. This is also a Youth Day game, played at Case Gym.

Men’s Ice Hockey vs. Brown
January 8, 7 pm
The lone game for Terrier men’s ice hockey over winter break is a clash with the Bears. Alex Brink (MET’21), who spent his undergrad hockey career at Brown, faces his former team for the first time. BU gets a tune-up for late season Hockey East play in this nonconference game, on Skating Strides against Breast Cancer night at Agganis Arena.

BU Swimming and Diving vs. Colgate
January 11, 5 pm
The five seniors on the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be honored as they take on Patriot League foe Colgate at the BU Aquatics Center. It’s the third conference meet of the season, and the first for BU in 2020. Admission is free.
