“We Love You and Miss You”: BU Parents Send Thanksgiving Wishes to Their Terriers
Video greetings replace in-person get-togethers owing to pandemic
As with so many things around the world, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc with the holiday season. States have issued travel advisories and urged caps on holiday gatherings, making a holiday synonymous with big, boisterous family feasts look considerably different across the United States. And as part of its stringent ongoing effort to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, BU is strongly encouraging students not to go home for Turkey Day this year.
So to bring a little slice of that home to students staying on campus for Thanksgiving break, BU Today asked parents near and far to send holiday greetings to their Terriers. We heard from families across the country: Georgia, Tennessee, California, Oregon, Washington, Long Island, Alaska—and three in Hawaii. In this special holiday video, you’ll hear their heartfelt messages and see their students’ reactions as they listen to those messages.
Our thanks to Kirsten Lundeen, BU Alumni & Friends director of strategic alumni engagement, and to Christy Loring, director of BU’s Parents Program, for their help in pulling this off.
