Eat, shop, go

It’s the last weekend before spring break, which means you probably have midterms and projects to get out of the way before you can kick back. But everyone needs a study break… 

So try out some discounted hibachi, jam out to Drake at the Museum of Science Hayden Planetarium, or cheer on the women’s ice hockey Terriers as they play in the conference semifinals at Walter Brown Arena. And then get back to work. 

Osaka Japanese Steakhouse

This Brookline restaurant’s special discounted menu for Dine Out Boston, which starts Sunday, March 1, consists of hibachi shrimp, hibachi steak, beef-wrapped asparagus, and sushi. It’s $15 for a two-course lunch, $28 for a three-course dinner, and if you want to go bigger, the regular menu is also available. 

Osaka Japanese Sushi & Steak House, 14 Green St., Brookline, is open Monday through Thursday, 4:30 to 10:30 pm, Friday, 12:15 to 11:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 12:15 to 10:30 pm. Dine Out Boston runs Sunday, March 1, through Friday, March 6, and Sunday, March 8, through Friday, March 13.

Lush

Newbury Street’s Lush sells fancy soaps, body creams, and skincare products, and although they cost more than the bar soap you normally buy at Target, they are all-natural, vegetarian, and not tested on animals. Need to destress before midterms? Try the Dreamtime bath melt, with lavender oil and sandalwood. 

Lush, 144 Newbury St., Boston, is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm.

Women’s Hockey East Quarterfinals: Terriers Take On University of Maine

With a 22-6-4 record, the BU women’s ice hockey team has met expectations this season. The postseason gets underway on Friday, February 28, with the Terriers facing the University of Maine at Walter Brown Arena. BU enters the postseason second in the Hockey East standings, sandwiched between local rivals Northeastern (first place) and Boston College (third), while this weekend’s competitor, Maine, sits in seventh place. Redshirt senior Sammy Davis (CGS’17, Sargent’19, Wheelock’20), last season’s second-leading scorer, paces the team with 41 points, 17 from goals.

The BU women’s hockey Terriers host the University of Maine on Friday, February 28, at 7 pm, at Walter Brown Arena, 285 Babcock St. The game is the first in a best-of-three series, all at BU. Game two will start Saturday, February 29, at 3 pm, and, if necessary, game three will be on Sunday, March 1, at 3 pm. Purchase tickets here.

Carnaval Celebration

The BU Brazilian Association is celebrating Carnaval, the traditional Brazilian festival before Lent. Usually a six-day affair in South America, BUBA has compressed the party into three hours this Friday. The event organizers promise free food, music, and capoeira, a form of martial arts that mixes Brazilian dance and music with self-defense. 

Carnaval is Friday, February 28, 8 to 11 pm, at BU Central, in the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Ave.; free for BU students, $3 for guests.

The Drake Experience

As if Drake wasn’t already big enough, he’s back in the “Headlines” in Boston as the Museum of Science hosts The Drake Experience in the Hayden Planetarium. If you “Know Yourself” to be a “Faithful” Drake fan, “Come Thru” to the 40-minute show on Friday or Saturday, starting at 8:30 pm. Tell your friends they will be “In My Feelings” if they miss it, and it might be smart to “Finesse” your tickets as soon as possible. Sorry, there is no “Child’s Play” allowed at The Drake Experience: it’s an 18-plus event.
