Decked-Out Dorms: Léa Namouni (CAS’23)
Name: Léa Namouni (CAS’23)
Address: A double in Myles Standish Hall she shares with roommate Grace Sullivan (COM’23). Namouni lived in Claflin Hall last year and describes Myles as “10 times” better. “It’s closer to East Campus. West is noisy and has lots of issues,” she says. “And I like that Myles is new and renovated.”
Short bio: The trilingual (she also speaks Spanish) international relations major was born just outside of Paris, but her family moved to New Jersey when she was five. Today, she is an editor of BU’s International Relations Review, copresident of the BU French Club, and an editor of the Her Campus BU chapter. She hopes to be a human rights lawyer one day.
As for nonacademic pursuits, she has been a staff leader for the First-Year Student Outreach Project (FYSOP), a volunteering and bonding program for incoming freshmen, and is currently taking virtual private dance lessons from her dorm room.
Back to campus after a hiatus: Namouni participated in Learn from Anywhere (LfA) last semester from her home, but wanted to return to campus for spring semester. She and Sullivan coordinated the design of their room before they came back to BU, coming up with their pink color scheme.
Calm in a sea of chaos: With such a busy schedule, Namouni says it is important to her to have a space that is well organized and aesthetically pleasing.
Where she finds her decorating inspiration: Design ideas friends have put together, and Pinterest.
Favorite places to shop: Little shops she’s discovered on Newbury Street, along with Target and Amazon.
A popular trend she shamelessly follows: Her photo wall, which is a mix of family photos, happy memories, and photos of places she would love to travel to right now, but cannot because of the pandemic—places like Italy, Paris, Spain, and New York City.
Random tip for those looking to decorate their rooms on a budget: Namouni is a big fan of thrifting, and also recommends decorating with things in similar colors and patterns for a more coordinated look.
In “Decked-Out Dorms,” students show off their stylish and unique dorm rooms and apartments, dish on where they found their bedding and decor, and talk about the trinkets that remind them of home. Is your room worth sharing? Email orourkej@bu.edu
