MFA painting alum Haley Hasler’s self-portraits of modern motherhood can be whimsical, surreal, sardonic, and pointed, sometimes all at once. The Colorado-based Hasler fills her large frames with costumes, props, foliage, wildlife, and, sometimes, her children and husband. She was recently named winner of the Alexander Rutsch Award for Painting by the Pelham (N.Y.) Art Center, which included a show there from May 24 to July 16, 2023.
