    Tolkien’s work did have reverence for the natural world. I think his world view was also particularly influential. Tolkien himself had stated that, at its essence, that the Lord of the Rings was “a fundamentally religious and Catholic work,” and his background as a linguist can really be seen in his writing. In light of those things, much of his work reflects his values and profession.
