Global Health Politics Workshop: War is Not a Metaphor: Police Power & Public Health in the Pandemic Era
A continuation of the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future’s Global Health Politics Workshop, Adia Benton, an associate professor of anthropology at Northwestern University, addresses the rapid increase of police power during the West African Ebola and COVID-19 pandemics. Her talk draws on ethnographic material to discuss marginalized communities’ experience during these times.

SPH’s Research with the Experts Webinar: Findings from Co-Researchers with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and the Importance of Inclusion on Research Teams
In recognition of World Down Syndrome Day, and hosted by the School of Public Health, through presentations and panel discussions, attendees will learn about co-research—a practice where the co-contributor is involved in everything from forming the research questions to data collection to analysis. Inclusion of people with and without disabilities on research teams fosters equitable collaboration.

Breaking Barriers: Inclusive Storytelling Through Animation
What steps are people and organizations taking to break the barriers to have more inclusive storytelling in animation? Panelists including Pilar Flynn (COM’97), coexecutive producer and showrunner of Disney/Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Jennifer Yuh Nelson, first female Oscar nominee for Best Animated Feature Film and supervising director of the Netflix anthology Love, Death & Robots, will discuss that question and more.

Boston University’s School of Social Work presents its emerging scholars: Darien Alexander Williams, a PhD candidate at MIT, OreOluwa Badaki, a PhD candidate at UPenn, and Shanondora Billiot, an assistant professor of social work at Arizona State University. The three will discuss social work in relation to climate and environmental justice.
