BU Law: Let’s Talk Wrongful Convictions
Join author and Northeastern criminal law professor Daniel S. Medwed and exoneree Sean K. Ellis for a conversation about wrongful convictions, the justice system’s perpetuation of them, and their enormous impact. Ellis spent almost 22 years in jail for a crime he did not commit, and his story was recently featured in the Netflix documentary Trial 4. This event is hosted by the BU chapter of the American Constitution Society.

Framing Agnes Screening and Director Q&A
Watch a free screening of the award-winning documentary Framing Agnes, followed by a Q&A with its director, Canadian filmmaker Chase Joynt. This innovative film follows a pioneering trans woman who attended an early gender clinic at UCLA in the 1960s.

“Race-Disability Intersectionality as a Health Equity Imperative”: the Pike Lecture
This lecture by Mary Crossley, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, examines the disadvantages Black people and people with disabilities face in regards to healthcare. Despite increased conversations around health equity, these talks don’t often focus on the intersection of these two groups. This lecture also demonstrates how reforms can benefit the health of Americans in general.

Portraits of Pride: A Celebration of Queer and Trans Lives in Boston
The original Portraits of Pride exhibition was unveiled in October 2022 to commemorate LGBTQ History Month and as a “love letter” to Boston’s LGBTQ+ community. The show included 19 large photos of remarkable leaders—photographed by John Huet and conceived by creative director Jean Dolin—displayed on the Boston Common. Come to the George Sherman Union for a special BU installation, inspired by the original, as well as a reception and panel with some of the photo subjects.

The 2023 Paul Streeten Distinguished Lecture in Global Development Policy
Join Eswar Prasad, economist and the Tolani Senior Professor of Trade Policy at Cornell University, for the 2023 Paul Streeten Distinguished Lecture in Global Development Policy: “The Blurred Contours of a New International Financial Order.” Prasad will discuss developing and emerging market economies, the effects of globalization, geopolitical alignments, and financial power in the West.

A Conversation with Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
The BU School of Public Health hosts Rochelle P. Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. She will be in conversation with Sandro Galea, dean of the SPH and Robert A. Knox Professor.

The Redstone Film Festival
Running for over 30 years, the Redstone Film Festival is one of New England’s premier film and television venues that showcases films created by graduate and undergraduate students in the BU Department of Film & Television. Awards for the spring festival winners are sponsored by Canon and the Sumner Redstone Foundation.

Saturday, April 1
Social Impact Film Festival
The Social Impact Film Festival features 20 films about topics such as climate change, gender equality, mental health, civil rights, healthcare, the LGBTQ+ community, and more. Presented by Entertainment 2 Affect Change in collaboration with three previous BU Yawkey Program interns—Alex Shores (COM’24, Sargent’24), Brianna Anderson (COM’25), and Arman Sadighian (CAS’23)—the donation-based event will also offer virtual screenings on Roku and Amazon Fire. Look out for “Sonder: A Talk with Ed Johnson” by fall 2022 Yawkey intern Andy Bae (COM’25).

TerrierTHON 2023
Come shake it for a good cause. BU Dance Marathon hosts its annual TerrierTHON to raise money and awareness for children fighting pediatric illness. Last year, the group raised over $5,300 for the cause. The eight-hour dance marathon (associated with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals) will include free food from corporate donors and BU Dance Marathon merch giveaways.

BU India Club Spring Show
The BU India Club (BUIC) presents its spring cultural show “Cirkus,” which features dance and vocal performances by BU Fatakada, BU Suno, BU Jalwa, and more. Founded in 1981, BUIC is one of the largest student cultural groups on campus.

BU Dance Theater Presents: NOWADAYS
Deborah Mason’s Cambridge Youth Dance Program (CYDP) Dance Company presents NOWADAYS at the BU Dance Theater on April 1 and 2. CYDP is a nonprofit dance company that provides scholarships to young dancers. NOWADAYS is described as a “choreographic nod to the past with dynamic reflection of the present, and movement of hope for the future.”
